Pandharpur yatra 2010
Pandharpur temple, which is located in Solapur, Maharashtra, has got a great spiritual importance in the country. Pandharpur temple is one of the few holy places of the country which has got utmost importance as a holy city.
Ashadh Yatra alone brings around 5 lakhs of Hindu devotees to Vithoba temple, which is commonly known as Pandharpur temple.
Pandharpur is one of the famous religious destinations in Maharashtra. Not just Maharashtra, people from native states also visit Pandhapur during Ashad Yatra.
Vithhal Mandir, also known as Vithoba temple is located on the banks for Bhima River. Pandharpur was named after a merchant known as Pandarika.
Pandharpur town is also known as Pandhari. Pandharpur God is called as Vitthal, Panduranga, Pandharinath, and he is treated in Hinduism as Avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Ashadhi Ekadashi is the day where lord Krishna has slept on his snake “Ananta nag”. Every year Ashadhi Ekadashi is celebrated as a holy yatra.
